Murmurers and complainers are cancerous, never celebrated, nor do they prosper. God blesses and promotes positive people who praise Him and impart hope to people.
God said to Abraham: "I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you" (Genesis 12:3).
We who are in Christ are heirs according to that promise (Galatians 3:29), as we in the dispensation of grace have a better covenant established upon better promises (Hebrews 8:6).
Yet ironically many who attend church regularly are NOT blessed and are growing increasingly bitter. Why? Because they do not have the heart of God for people.
How do I know? Because they are envious and jealous rather than able to rejoice with them who rejoice. When they see others being blessed, instead of getting happy with them and celebrating, they grow jealous and become more bitter.
Jealous and envy is as rotteness in the bones. It pollutes you inwardly and physically. Moreover it repels blessed and prosperous people from you because spiritually they can discern you are evil and unable to carry the heart and blessing of God.
Of course God in His endless mercy will always give you some longsuffering friends who will endure you for a season and hopefully confront your disfunction so you can be healed. But the season of suffering will continue and be perpetuated if you in your pride remain self-centered, self-willed and resistant to the Word of God through His people.
Jesus spoke of hundredfold blessings for His servants faithfully and diligently serving Him (Mark 10:28:31). Yet "with persecutions" ...because people get jealous when you start getting blessed and it is visually obvious you are MORE blessed than them.
This is when people get mad and sadly they who get most angry are usually not sinners outside the church, but religious folks (self-righteous religious folks) within the church.
It was the Saducees and Pharisees (sad and yet full of themselves) who most vehemently and violently resisted and opposed Jesus. Yet if they would have just humbled their hearts and received Christ's Words they too could have submitted to God and been blessed.
Yet in their defiance they chose their position, religion and justification (for why they weren't equally as blessed and enjoying God's miraculous blessing).
Such can occur within families as well - a division as Christ foretold. Jesus boldy said: "Do not think I have come to send peace on earth: I did not come to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance (division) ...and a man's foes shall be they of his own household" (Matthew 10:34-36).
Bishop T.D. Jakes recently preached about this saying the one place a man often feels most UNCOMFORTABLE and UNWELCOME is in his own home.
King David could certainly attest to that! David, the man after God's own heart, was rejoicing in the Lord, when his wife Michal despised him in her heart (2Samuel 6:14-15,20).
Michal, David's wife was a killjoy. Yet David refused to allow her to quench the fire of the Spirit and love for God burning in his heart.
David stood up to the wicked woman (his own wife) saying: "I will be more vile than this and will be abased in my own sight" (2Samuel 6:22) purposing to worship God wholeheartedly no matter what his foolish wife said.
The result - David continued to flourish and prosper, while his wicked wife Michal (full of bitterness and contempt for the Lord and His chosen servant David) was barren all of her life [2 Samuel 6:23].
Truly pride goes before a fall and continually keeps us from flourishing.
Who do you despise and have contempt for?
Quite possibly the very person you despise has been positioned by God to teach you something, agitate your rebellion, expose your bad attitude and misplaced emotion and provoke you to think and live according to a higher law.
Nevertheless if you continue playing and purporting to be self-righteous you like Michal can live and die barren (barreness was considered to be a curse in Israel - both then and now).
As for the men and women desiring to break forth in the earth and live in the glorious Presence and blessing of God, do not allow a vile and evil spirit such as was in Michal to kill your joy for one split second.
The joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). God surely and continually inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3).
This is why the devil wants to stop the praises and celebration with complaining, criticism and ongoing accusation - the devil's pitiful modus operandi.
Like the prophet Elijah who defeated and beat that wicked woman Jezebel, rise up with the high praises of God and two-edged sword of the Word in your mouth to conquer that complaining and pathetic clamorous spirit.
This is the day the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in our Creator!
As we rejoice and happily praise Him, our enemies will surely be made to bow before us!
